Over the weekend I had the pleasure of attending an Instameet put on by Mountain Girls in Eden, Utah. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, and it was definitely something I’ll never forget.
Smutwood Peak
Smutwood Peak holds a very special place in my heart, as this hike was my first time ever actually summiting a mountain. Before Smutwood, I had done a ton of hiking in mainly low elevation areas with fairly easy terrain. Once those short and sweet hikes started to become too easy for me I made the decision to try my hand at a summit.

I’ve often been asked the question “what do you get out of hiking?” To answer that question in only one sentence would be nearly impossible for me, so I figured I would sum up a few of the reasons why I love being in the mountains in this first blog post. They are reasons that I’m sure many fellow outdoor enthusiasts would agree with.
